How to Make Low Carb Sesame Chicken Sauce?

Below are the main ingredients we will be adding to make a flavorful keto sesame chicken sauce.

Soy sauce – I am using 0 carb soy sauce here (you can buy it here) or you can use coconut aminos or liquid aminos which is an alternative to soy sauce.

Low carb sweeteners – use sweeteners like sukrin gold, but you can use lakanto’s golden monkfruit sweetener or stevia/erythritol blend or any other brown sugar substitute.

Vinegar – I am using distilled white vinegar, but you can use apple cider vinegar or rice wine vinegar.

Xanthan gum – to thicken the sauce, you can use guar gum powder instead.

Additional Flavors (Optional) – if you would like to add more flavor to the chicken, feel free to add some seasoning to the sauce. Look for flavors that will complement the other ingredients in the recipe.

  2. The sesame flavor was overwhelming for my taste/expectations in sesame chicken. Where we live it’s peanut flavored and sticky sweet.
So I added another tablespoon of monk fruit sweetener about 1/4 tsp honey and 1 Tablespoon powdered peanut butter. Turned out great!

      • You added xanthum gym in the sauce. Do you also use the the xanthum to sub for the cornstarch as well? It wasn’t quite clear. I just want to know if I need to use xanthum twice. Both for chicken and sauce.

      • Sorry. I’m confused. The baked version used almond flour for coating but it wasn’t mention on the fried version. Was it the arrowroot powder that was used for the coating?

        • Yes, the baked is different than the fried one.. The Baked version used almond flour whereas on the fried version I used arrowroot powder. So, if you are making the baked version just follow the steps mentioned.

  3. Making this I was a bit sceptical- the egg mixture just didn’t look like it would make a coating for the chicken. Boy was I wrong! This is one of the best home made sesame chicken recipes I’ve found!

Next time I’ll probably double the sauce , and cut back on the sweetener

  5. I know you say you can use Xantham gum as a replacement which is less carbs? Also upon googling it I saw that psyllium husk is also a good substitute.
